So unique & idyllic

Winter hiking suggestions

The Olympic region with all its wonderful villages can be best explored by means of the 142 km of optimally groomed winter hiking trails. One route or another is among the absolute highlights for some guests during a stay in Seefeld in Tyrol. We are also delighted by the variety of routes, and that’s why we would like to present a selection of hiking suggestions in the winter.

Winter hike from Seefeld to picturesque Mösern

Mösern is not only well-known because of a fabulous view of the Inn Valley and due to the refreshing lake Möserer See, but the hike to the Peace Bell is also very popular in the winter. From the centre in Seefeld the route proceeds westwards to the Seekirchl votive church past the WM Casino Tennis Centre, always following the course of the road. The branch-off to Möserer See is after approx. 1 kilometre, but continue walking straight ahead towards Mösern on the pavement parallel to the federal road.

Hiking time: approx. 1 ½ hours

Along the idyllic lakeside promenade, around the Wildsee

The Wildsee is no longer an insider tip among the hikes, but the atmosphere around the lakeside promenade is more than wintry beautiful. From our Hotel Haymon you walk southwards and branch off to the right at Hotel Bergland along the southern bypass. After arriving at Haus Seerose, the hiking trail starts and branches off to the left. The winter hiking trail initially proceeds through the fabulous forest, and leads later across open terrain around the Wildsee. The route leads you further along the sunny southern shoreline past the swimming area and back to Hotel Haymon.

Around the Gschwandtkopf

The Gschwandtkopf is not only well-known because of the ski run – the diversified hiking trails at the foot of the mountain (1,495 metres) are optimally suited for a winter hike.

Start from our Hotel Haymon and walk through the centre of Seefeld towards the Olympia Sports Centre. Hike past the bottom station of the Gschwandtkopf lift along the edge of the forest on the left side of the valley near the Casino Arena and then cross the road. From there the route continues on the left towards Mösern, where you branch off to the left at the chapel (trail sign Auland-Reith). The hike leads you to Café Englhof across the pastureland known as “Auländer Mähder” and back to the lakeside promenade, where our Hotel Haymon is only a few steps away.

Reitherjoch Alm

After arriving at the Reitherjoch Alm, the somewhat more challenging winter hike rewards you with a beautiful view of the snow-covered surroundings.

The hiking route starts near Hotel Haymon and proceeds along Reitherspitzstrasse (road) towards the “new secondary school” in Seefeld. After arriving there, and after you have branched off to the right, hike along the former Roman road (Römerweg). Shortly before the railway crossing, use the narrow bridge on the left side, which leads you towards the federal road. Please cross this road with caution! After that, branch off to the left of the fence on the forest trail towards Reitherjoch Alm.

Through Gaistal valley up to Hämmermoosalm or Gaistalalm (Leutasch)

A hike you should definitely not miss out on – the hike to Hämmermoosalm, which is also well-known as the starting point for tobogganing enthusiasts. Ride with the regional bus or by car in the direction of Leutasch towards the “Klamm” neighbourhood, where the road leads to the Salzbach parking area (subject to charge). From there, follow a steadily slight ascent up to the branch-off, where you keep to the right and continue to follow the course of the trail towards Hämmermoosalm. Please note that this winter hiking trail is also used as a natural toboggan run.

Hiking time: approx. 45 minutes
Level of difficulty: moderate

The hike towards Gaistalalm has the same starting point, but at the first branch-off it follows the left trail direction. From there simply follow the flat trail until you have arrived at Gaistalalm.
